Q & A

1. Q: Is SL Sci Fi Con 15 a new thing?

A: No, SL Sci Fi Con is the SL Sci-Fi Con's 15th anniversary event for the Sci Fi Community in Second Life

2. Q: Is SL Fandom Con the actual SL Sci Fi Con rebranded?

A:  No, SL Fandom Con is a brand new mega event created by The American Cancer Society, other then having some of the past SL Sci-Fi Con Staff, the convention itself has no connection to SL Sci-fi Con, therefor is not a rebrand. - The SL Fandom Con is an entirely new event, with no prior history, which adds to the current events along with the SL Sci-Fi Con and SciFi Expo. The SL Fandom Con does not replace any event, but instead adds a new event.

3. Q: When is SL Sci Fi Con 15

A: SL Sci Fi Con 15 takes place Friday March 31 - April 9 2023

4. Q: Are the SL Sci-Fi Con and the SL Fandom Con the same event?

A: No. The SL Sci-Fi Con is the event that has been held for the last 14 years, and will be happening again in spring of 2023. - The SL Fandom con is a new event, organized by ACS

5. Q: What about the SciFi Expo? Is it the same event or run by the same people?

A: No. The SciFi Expo is a separate event, organized independently from both the SL Sci-Fi Con and the SL Fandom Con.

6. Q: I heard the events were fighting between each other. Is this true?

A: The SL Sci-Fi Con and the SciFi Expo have peacefully co-existed together for several years. For example, The SL Sci-Fi Con allows the SciFi Expo to promote their event in the SL Sci-Fi Con's groups, and fully supports the SciFi Expo. With the addition of the SL Fandom Con, The SL Sci-Fi Con also allows them to promote their event in the SL Sci-Fi Con's groups, and we hope the SL Fandom Con will reciprocate and allow the SL Sci-Fi Con and the SciFi Expo to promote the 2 events in their groups. After all, we all have the same purpose: supporting charity

When posting notices in each other's groups, we will try to clarify which of the 3 the notice pertains to. If the notice is not clear, you may refer to this FAQ for clarification.

7. Q: Why did ACS create a third event? Wasn't two events enough?

A: Two events were enough for most stores/groups/exhibitors, SL Sci-Fi Con and the Fall/Winter SciFi Expo. While these two events are generally sci-fi-specific events, ACS is adding the new SL Fandom Con as a sort of "variety" con, which includes multiple genres.

8. Q: I can't afford to get a booth at all three events. Will either of these events ban my store/group if I skip their event and get a booth at a competing event?

A: No. These 3 events are not competitors, and will not ban you for doing your event at one-but-not-the-other events.

You are very welcome to get a booth at one, or two, or all three events - either of them.

We are all on the same team, raising money for charity.
